1. Increase Aerobic Capacity
Aerobic capacity diminishes as we age, but research on traditional forms of aerobic exercises has shown that it can improve with regular training. In a meta-analytic study on Taichi (which has relaxed graceful movement style like Taijutsu), researchers looked at seven studies focusing on the effects of Tai Chi on aerobic capacity in adults with an average age of 55. The investigators found that individuals who practiced Tai Chi regularly for a year had higher aerobic capacity than sedentary individuals around the same age.
2. Stress Relief
The breathing, movement, and mental concentration required for Budo Taijutsu are the perfect break from our hectic lifestyles. Students say that training 2 times per week is like having a mini-vacation. The mind-body connection is also significant, as, like a moving meditation, breathing combined with body movement and hand-eye coordination promotes calmness.
3. It’s For All Ages
Budo Taijutsu is a soft art. So much so that people of almost any age or physical condition can train in it.
4. Strength and Endurance
Budo Taijutsu has proven to be an exercise with significant benefits in the areas of balance, and lower-body muscular strength and endurance, with upper and lower-body flexibility. After just six weeks, I have seen significant improvements in students' balance, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility measures.
4. Body Awareness
The manner in which techniques are taught Budo Taijutsu, as well as the moves themselves, develop a heightened kinesic sense and awareness of how the body should be moving. so a person develops grace, and relaxation that helps a person move more efficiently and effectively in all physical pursuits.
